These cushions are constructed from hand-loomed hemp textiles originally produced in rural Turkey between 1930 and 1960. Hemp was historically utilised for agricultural purposes, specifically as heavy-duty sheets for drying grain in the sun due to its natural breathability and resistance to moisture. Each cushion features a unique patchwork design, meticulously cut and assembled from various sections of the original grain sheets.
The raw vintage hemp is collected from various regions across the country and undergoes a rigorous restoration process. The fabric is professionally cleaned, dyed, and stone-washed to achieve a softer hand-feel while maintaining its characteristic structural durability.
Due to the artisanal nature of the patchwork and the age of the materials, no two cushions are identical in pattern or tonal variation.
